Additional Information | This issue opens with a description (in Dakota) of how Christopher Columbus secured funds and ships from Spain for his first voyage to the Americas, and his final arrival on 12 October, 1492. In 1892, the Catholic missions are observing the 400th anniversary of this arrival. There is also a description of St. Francis of Assisi (A.D. 1182) his teachings. There is again a “Supplement” to this issue, from Our School Children’s Department. In this part there is a letter of appreciation form Rev. Jerome to the Industrial Boarding School at Standing Rock. This is followed by various letters from others schools and church organization to Rev. Jerome, including the Qu’appelle Industrial School, St. Francis Mission at Rosebud Agency, and the Agricultural Boarding School at Standing Rock. There is also a long letter, in Dakota, about Louise Sighoun and missionary efforts in amongst the Cour-D’Alene Nation. |
