Additional Information | The issue begins with a mathematical question to test the readers, as well as a response. A description of the arrival of the American fleet of ships in Honolulu and their journey in search of land. Also in the issue is a description of the opium war between Britain and China. A description of the stranding of the ship named Kinau in Nawiliwili, Kauai is provided. The author using the stranding as a way to condemn drinking as he mentions drunkenness as the reason for the stranding. He further encourages the chiefs to stop drinking in hopes they will become models for their citizens. The report about the change in school laws from the previous issues is continued. The author ends the issue with a note to children on ways they can receive blessings. |
