Additional Information | An essay written by Keliikahua concerning the Catholic priests and the Protestant priests. He also talks about a particular image of Jesus. Because of its high quality and it being dressed in gold, he asks if it is really necessary, and even says the picture seems to be more about money than Jesus himself. He also talks about the people who are good shepherds of the land, who spread the word of God. If these people have money, they take that money and build a church. Another letter is written to the paper by Kaupaona concerning his positive opinions about the Catholic church, as opposed to the Protestant Church, even though he himself was kicked out of the Catholic Church. Perhaps it was a way to try to get back in? A story of missionaries and apostles going around the islands spreading the word of God. |
